The shapes from "Landscape Observed" are extracted from the buildings viewable from the Grand Trunk Road between New Delhi and Chandigarh, India. Each piece is created by inlaying the refined, colored cut paper shape into rice paper. The surfaces become one by reducing them to the same level, yet the contrast between the light rice paper and the heavier painted paper remains. A tension is created through the unlikely pairing.
