Tinsel |
I have surrendered to the reflective light, color and shadow play of my work, making these elements my primary focus. Hologram paper and foil tinsel are currently my medium of choice, due to their heightened reflective light, and ability to bring light into the shadows. Many of these works are made with ready-made tinsel, exploring cultural implications and transformations.

Panorama |
Panorama (March 2005-January 2011) is one long, continuous piece created with hand-cut hologram paper. It is intended for the viewer to walk along, as if strolling down a street. The images are of people on a street and buildings, which are then reflected and amplified between the light from the hologram paper and the shadows of the buildings. Panorama is an ongoing work, currently 14 feet long in its entirety.

Tinsel Drawings |
Spontaneous works are an important part of my studio practice. Recently these explorations have involved mylar foil, discovering its possibilities and playing with its ability to project light back onto a translucent surface. The series Black (Whole) goes a step further, inlaying the reflective foil next to black ink. The surface is transformed into a question, as the material visually slips between a liquid, infinite space and a reflection.
